Hoyo De Monterrey Petit Belicosos Duty Free and Travel Retail Exclusive
Every once in a while, Habanos S.A. releases Duty Free and Travel Retail exclusive edition cigars. The latest is the very attractive “Petit Belicosos” by Hoyo De Monterrey. Here’s a look at the specs.
CIGARS: Petit Belicosos
Size: 52 ring gauge x 125 mm length
Packaging: White lacquered humidor, wrapped in a black velvet cover, enclosed in a black cardboard outer box (similar to the Behike outer box). Comes with a hygrometer and space to insert a little regulator, or perhaps more ideally, a couple of small Boveda packs.
Each humidor comes with 15 Petit Belicosos.
The size is one that is very suitable for the Hoyo marca. It has the potential to make into the regular line of the storied brand. Only time will tell if that happens. At the time of this writing, only the Montecristo Petit No. 2 is available as a regular production in that size. There is certainly a market for it.
THE HUMIDOR
The 15 vitolas come in a very sleek, white lacquered humidor. This is from the same blood lines as the Hoyo De Monterrey Double Epicure, which was released for the same retail channels in 2010. If you had a chance to find that one, this 2019 is very similar in style and presentation. This stylish white box, can be used for a humidor, although you would be limited to what you can store in it. As attractive as it is, it is a very modest in quality as a stand-alone humidor.
