NEW CIGAR – Juan Lopez “Seleccion Especial”
Habanos released this very special cigar to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the brand, all in one beautiful white cigar box.
Juan Lopez “Seleccion Especial” commemorates the 150th Anniversay of the storied brand and the 30th Anniversary of the La Casa del Habano franchise. In the early 1870s, Juan Lopez Diaz started his cigar factory and brand in Havana. After his death, it was owned by Cosme del Peso y Cia right up until the revolution. It is one of the oldest brands out of Cuba, and due to its rather small portfolio of cigars, the flavor and construction of these cigars remain consistent and of high quality.
This release was officially planned for 2020, but was only seen in shops in late 2021, and then again in late 2022. They did not spend too much time, if at all, on the shelves, and I personally have not seen any in most shops since. Collectors pick these up rather fast and shops these days are keeping special boxes like this tucked away. Further, they are exclusive to La Casa del Habano franchise shops.

THE BOX
As with most special releases, this Juan Lopez box is no exception and comes in a wonderful presentation. An outer white cardboard box with the Juan Lopez markings in embossed gold, then a thick, white lacquered box wrapped in a green velvet casing.
