RA Club Allones
Every once in a while Habanos S.A. throw cigars aficonados a curve ball. For the second ever ecidion limitada for the Ramon Allones brand, they released the Club Allones measuring 47 x 135 (5.3″) which is a grand corona size. Thi smaller sized cigar is quite welcome given the slew of large ring gages the have released lately (like the Partagas Maduro #1, H.Upmann Magnum 56…). I am quite interested ot see how these taste. Here is our Ramon Allones Club Allones Review:

Construction:

It feels tight and hard but it doesn’t have that heavy feeling you get from cigars that are overfilled. Given I have never smoked this cigar may be this isn’t true about this one. Visually, I must admit, it looks a bit rough. The veins on the wrapper are a bit stiff and wrinkled but to its defense, it smells amazing.

Aroma at cold: After an effortless punch, I am greeted with a perfect draw. Score!

I get grassy and raw tobacco flavours. I noticed that the cigar itself smells pretty strong of barnyard mixed with sweet chocolate. Let’s spark!

1stthird:

First few puffs are strong and much more powerful than expected. It quickly tones down, to a smooth Ramon Allones-esque flavours. It has definitely has those stewed fruits notes I read in other Ramon Allones Clube Allones Review. It has a fruity tanginess and acidity that is quite interesting. It does have quite a bit of torque to it. Even bandless you would be able to detect that this is a young cigar but no ammonia notes. Youth makes this a bit muted but the tangy is present. No spices, sweetness you sometimes get. Quite nice but still got power.

2nd  Third

I decided to go with sparkling water and lemon to help clear my palate. Even though it is a bit muted this cigar is quite complex and intense. This is much more open than the first third. The tangy notes that defined the first third are still there but not as predominant. There are some exotic wild peppers (Malagasy not to be pretentious) sneaking in and out goes the sweetness. The finish is now much longer. Towards the end, the Club Allones is giving gushing dark chocolates notes. Wow! Rethrohale shows some picante as a friend would say.

3rd

Now this has picked up in complexity and after taste. Tangy notes have gone and it is now mellowed out. The smoke coming from the cigar smells really good. One thing indoor smoking offers is the immersion factor, where the smoke surrounds you and completes the experience.

Nicotine is showing up to the party…

Weirdly, the strength seems to have gone down a bit on the last third to leave place to quite some interesting flavours.  It is producing smoke is dry and medium in thickness.

Well this is funny, I got up to go to the bathroom and someone emptied my ashtray leaving with without the nub of the cigar. At least this shows great service execution.

Joking aside, I got to experience quite a bit of the Ramon Allones Club Allones to say this is quite a nice cigar. My personal aging notes would be at least 3 years before we see if it has the potential to go long. All in all a great smoke and definitely one to try for the Ramon Allones lovers!

8/10
