Diplomaticos
Diplomaticos was launched in 1966. The brand’s raison d’être was a less expensive alternative to Montecristo. The target market was mainly France.
The sizes available were the No. 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. All identical to the same size cigars as Montecristo.
In 1976, the No. 6 and 7 were released, as a counterpart to the Montecristo Especial No. 1 and Especial No. 2 respectively.
The only Diplomaticos in regular production at the time of this writing (2019) is the No. 2 which is a piramides cigar that is the exact same size as the famed Montecristo No. 2.
In 2018, Diplomaticos released a special Regional Edition for the Canadian market called the Norteños to commemorate the 30 year anniversary of the Canadian distributor of Habanos cigars, Havana House.
There exist on the market several Diplomaticos Regional Editions. One of the most sought-after editions was the “Bushido” which was an exclusive for the Asia Pacifico market, released in 2014.
