The “Camacho Nicaragua” series is the latest addition to the catalogue of the famed specialists of Cuban-style Honduran bold smokes. In a rather humdrum year, news of this latest release from Camacho was heavily anticipated in the run up to it’s release in late-July.

This new medium-full bodied blend is featured in 3 vitolas, the Robusto (52 x 127mm) Toro (50 x 152mm) and Gran Churchill (56 x 178mm).  Despite the name, these new smokes are a hybrid of leaves from multiple nations; an Ecuadorian wrapper, Honduran binder, and a filler from Honduras, Dominican Republic and Nicaragua.

The appellation of this blend is due it’s particular focus on the Nicaraguan filler, the adjacent tobaccos providing “the depth and character” that prop up the distinct Nicaraguan flavour. With a complexity spanning 4 nations, this new release retains bold flavours of spice, oak, dried fruit sweetness, pepper and baking spaces imparted from the volcanic soils of its origin.

For the past few decades Camacho has become an industry specialist in bold full flavoured smokes that do not sacrifice balance or construction quality. With this latest release, this legacy is kept safely in tact. Camacho’s focus on Nicaragua corresponds to Davidoff’s takeover of the brand in 2008. This latest three format release follows the success of 2017’s “Master built series”.

The previous Nicaraguan Barrel-aged incorporated Corojo tobacco from the Esteli region that was then aged for 5 months in “Flor de Cana” Nicaraguan rum barrels.

The new Camacho Nicaragua series is produced at the Diadema Cigars de Honduras S.A factory in Danli, Honduras, with boxes available in counts of 20.
