Cuaba :: A Brief History
1966
The brand was launched in 1996. Cuaba specializes in figurado sizes.
In the early 19th century, double figurado cigars were high in demand, with a drop that saw hardly any in the market after the 1970s. A century later, they were revived in the Romeo Y Julieta factory under the brand Cuaba.
Initially, the cigars were made without a mold and had a slightly different shape.
The name Cuaba refers to a word used by the Tainos Indians. It was the type of wooden torch they used.
Four sizes were part of the initial launch in 1996. The Divinos, Exclusivos, Generosos and Traditionales.
1999
The Distinguidos was released as part of the Millennium Reserve Commemorative Jars.
2001
The Diademas was produced in limited quantity, and then made available on the market in 2002. It is a large cigar and comes wrapped in a silver aluminum foil.
2001
The Salomones I made it’s first appearance in a Book Humidor. It remains in regular production today as the only Salomones in the market alongside the Partagas Salomones.
2008
The limited edition Cuaba was released; the Piramides. It was and remains the only Cuaba that is not a double figurado.
2012
Cuaba releases the Bariary cigar available exclusively in the Coleccion Habanos book humidor series.
