Por Larranaga

I always love discovering a new Cuban cigar brand. The feeling of smoking something that I never heard of before is always satisfying. This was my first time trying a Por Larrañaga habanos and boy was I missing out. The cigar in question is the Montecarlos edition, a 33 X 159 ring gauge Vitola considered as a light to medium bodied cigar. A skinny, long stick that often gets overlooked by cigar smokers. Here is my take on it!

The beginning

Beginning

Straight off the start I could tell I was going to like this cigar. The beginning delivered itself directly. A mild smoke, nice blend of flavors right from the start. Nutty and dark chocolate mixed with some hazelnut and slight baking spices. Nothing overpowering, all is smooth and silky. Also getting some slight herbal notes, but nothing green or peppery…not harsh at all. A nice smooth beginning.

The middle

Middle

The evolution of the cigar is pretty consistent since the start. Flavors are slightly concentrating but not too much. The taste profile hasn’t changed that much. The draw is nice and smooth. A really easy to smoke cigar so far, considering the fact that I’m not even having anything to drink with it…So I guess its pretty easy to smoke!

The end

Cigar stayed true all the way threw. Slightly more concentration towards the end. But overall beautiful smoke. Flavors stayed pretty much the same, just a bit more spices and herbaceous notes toward the end. Leathery feel as well and a nice tobacco taste to it.

The conclusion

Conclusion

My final take on this cigar is nothing but positive. First of all, when you take a look at the price point of this cigar you can’t go wrong…it’s a under 20$ smoke (in Canada). Second, it gives you a nice long and consistent smoking experience with a noticeable evolution. And finally, the Montecarlos is a cigar you can enjoy at any time of the day either after a good espresso in the morning of after a nice meal at the restaurant. Do not over look these little beauties because they can provide a lot of smoking pleasure for their cost.

Cheers,
