52 x 110 (4.3″)    Petit Robusto

Probably one of my favorite maracas, this Bolivar follows in the same vein of most other Bolivars that I’ve had the pleasure of trying.
Most of the Bolivars that I’ve tried have had a woody, earthy, spicy notes that all blend perfectly all while maintaining a smooth balance with an even finish.
The Petite Robusto didn’t stray to far from Bolivars norm, except for the pronounced black pepper notes that intensified throughout the length of the cigar.
The first 3rd of the cigar was very light, and had almost no finish to it. There were hints of some light woody notes, almost like walking into a room with freshly chopped wood or we two chips. The subtlety and complexity of the pepper and wood was almost refreshing on the lips.
The second third was a little spicier as the pepper notes became more dominant as well as some more earthy tones (haven’t developed my palate enough to pick them out yet) that allowed the peppery notes to dominate more. The increase in spiciness wasn’t my favourite, but the earthy notes were tempering it enough that the cigar was still enjoyable.
The last third was where I lost interest. With the woody and earthy tones being tapered, the peppery notes dominated the rest of the way. My palate skews more towards lighter and sweeter so it wasn’t what I am used to but it was still a very enjoyable to finish.
Overall what I really loved about this cigar was the first and second thirds combined with the size. The gauge and size make is a short but satisfying smoke.
