The 18th Annual Habanos Festival took place from February 29 to March 4, 2016 in the beautiful and the ever changing Havana, Cuba. I had the pleasure of attending on behalf of La Casa del Habano Montreal.
As always, the closing Gala evening celebrated the 50 year anniversary of the flagship Cohiba brand, and featured the much anticipated and talked about 2016 Habanos Festival Auction. The event is organized by Habanos S.A. and the revenues raised are all donated to the Cuban Public Health System.
The humidors being auctioned are well crafted, works of art, made by skilled craftsmen. Each piece will have a unique place in any collectors room and is a guaranteed conversation piece. All the Habanos cigars contained in the humidors were rolled by the best cigar rollers of the factory of the headquarter of each respective brand. It should be noted that the humidification system in each humidor were donated by Adorini, with the exception of the Cohiba 50 Anniversario, which was made by Elie Blue.

Hoyo de Monterrey. Humidor by the Caoma Group. It contains 360 Habanos: 20 Double Coronas; 20 Epicure Especial, Epicure No. 1, 20 Le Hoyo de San Juan, 20 Epicure de Luxe, 20 Petit Robustos, 25 Epicure No. 2 Reserva Cosecha 2012, 50 Hermosos no. 4 Anejados 2015, 25 Elegantes, 20 Maravillas, 20 Le Hoyo Des Dieux, 20 Short Hoyo Piramides, 20 Churchills, 20 Extravaganza, 20 Regalos, 20 Gran Piramides.
Romeo y Julieta. Humidor by Jose Antonio Gonzalez Rodriguez and Osviel Carrillo Probance.
